Emotionally Healthy Spirituality: Dwell on Your Losses
Decide right now you have big losses ahead of you.
Nothing could be truer.
Decide this right now and when they come there’s a chance you can gain all the value in each loss.
A debt or foreclosure.
A diagnosis.
A job loss.
A death of a child or parent.
Whichever loss comes next, it will test your limits. You’ll experience legitimate tears and valid fears. But along with those, a chance to receive whatever character-deepening effect might also come.
I don’t pray for losses to come. I value my family members, my health, and my creature comforts too much to do that!
But I do pray that when they come, God will use them to enlarge my soul.
